By blocking spam, scams, telemarketing and abusive calls, KISA Shield helps protect older Australians, people with disabilities, and other vulnerable users from being taken advantage of or harassed.

Once the KISA Shield service is activated, managing it is simple:
- Log in to your account via the MyKISA portal or MyKISA app.
- Choose your settings — either whitelist (approved callers only) or blacklist (block selected numbers).
- Update anytime — changes are applied automatically as long as the KISA device is turned on.

How KISA Shield Works
Once the KISA Shield service is activated, managing it is simple:
- Whitelist mode: Only approved contacts can call the KISA device. All other numbers are blocked, including private or unknown callers.
- Blacklist mode: All numbers can call except those you choose to block and numbers already registered as scams or frauds.
- Automatic protection: KISA automatically blocks calls from known scam databases and private numbers.
- Real-time updates: Lists are managed through the MyKISA portal or app and synchronised instantly.
This intuitive setup provides reliable, automated protection — no complex menus, passwords, or apps required.

What is whitelisting and blacklisting?
- Whitelisting will limit the calls made to the KISA device, allowing only those programmed into the phone to call it, meaning the KISA user will only hear from people you trust.
- Selecting the whitelist option allows you to create and maintain a list of numbers that have been approved to call the KISA user. This means that even if Cousin Robert's number isn't programmed into the device, he can still call and chat.
- Blacklisting lets you block specific phone numbers from calling the KISA device, while allowing all other calls to come through.
- You can then create and maintain a list of numbers you want to block from calling the KISA user.
